Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is reportedly seriously considering the possibility of quitting the Belgian national team due to the severity of his injury, which makes it difficult for him to participate in Euro 2024, and a conflict with the national team manager.

Before the start of the 2023/24 season, Real Madrid goalkeeper Courtois suffered a serious knee ligament injury. He had to undergo surgery and will miss the entire season.

It will be difficult for Courtois to even recover in time to represent the Belgian national team at Euro 2024. In this context, the 31-year-old goalkeeper is seriously considering the possibility of quitting the national team.

Serious injuries make it difficult to play in the Europa League, and there’s also a conflict with the manager.

Earlier, Courtois believes that Euro 2024 is the last international tournament where he is still in peak form. The Belgian goalkeeper doesn’t think he can still be at his best at the 2026 World Cup as he will be 35 years old by then.

Moreover, another reason for Courtois to consider quitting the Belgian team comes from a conflict with manager Domenico Tedesco. Last June, Courtois was upset that he was unable to wear the captain’s armband in a match celebrating his 100th appearance for the national team.

Lukaku was named captain for that match. The Real Madrid goalkeeper publicly expressed his displeasure.

There have been a lot of problems in the Belgian dressing room lately. The crisis culminated at the 2022 World Cup, where disunity among players led to Belgium’s poor performance and elimination from the group stage.
