Anthony Edwards becomes youngest NBA player to make 600 3-pointers: fan reaction

Minnesota Timberwolves star point guard Anthony Edwards made history in the first quarter of the Timberwolves’ season opener against the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday, Oct. 25. At 22 years old, he became the youngest player ever to make 600 three-pointers.

Edwards got off to an equally hot start with 12 points, four rebounds, one assist and two 3-pointers in just 10 minutes of action. His historic milestone and impressive all-around performance had fans on X (the precursor to Twitter) raving about his potential to become an all-time great:

“When people talk about the best future players in the league, this guy is a sleeper pick for me,” one fan said.

“These young upstarts are going to erase Steph’s (Curry’s) record around 2030,” said another fan.
Here’s how some of the top fans reacted to Edwards’ record:

“Ant is the real deal. He has everything it takes to be a superstar in the league.”
“I can’t wait to see what Ant does in the coming years. He’s already one of the best young players in the league.”
“Ante is going to be a problem for a long time. He has the talent and work ethic to be one of the best players in the NBA.”
Edwards ready to make another leap in fourth grade

Anthony Edwards will start his fourth year with a fresh look. The 22-year-old star decided to change his jersey number from No. 1 to No. 5 in the offseason. According to Edwards, he is now ready to take his game to another level as a new player with a new number:

“Absolutely,” Edwards told The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

“A totally different player. More athletic, more dunks. It’s just, you know, it’s a different level of play because I carry my number now.”

Edwards previously wore No. 5 in high school and college in honor of his mother, Yvette, and grandmother, Shirley. Both passed away when he was in eighth grade in different months with the No. 5 jersey.

Edwards said they were both motivators for him to become a great player:

“It made me work harder because I knew they wanted to see me at the top, so it made me work harder, that’s all. Now I have to take care of my family.

Edwards is now under immense pressure to make the leap to superstardom in his fourth season. However, according to the Timberwolves star, he is ready to accept those high expectations:

“It’s exciting and it feels like everything is on you,” Edwards told The Athletic.

Edwards told The Athletic, “Especially when I have a group of players as good as my teammates. They’re like my brothers. They’ve always had my back.”

Last season, Edwards averaged 24.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 1.6 steals, 0.7 caps, and 2.7 3-pointers in 79 games while shooting 45.9 percent from the field.

Anthony Edwards is one of the most exciting young players in the NBA. He has all the makings of a superstar and now he is ready to take the next step in his career. With a new jersey number and a new mentality, Edwards looks to lead the Timberwolves to the playoffs in his fourth season.
